People’s Book Opens in Takoma Park TODAY!
People’s Book is excited to announce its launch today, Tuesday, June 27th in the heart of Takoma Park at 7014-A Westmoreland Ave. The store has a diverse selection of over 12,000 books, with a special focus on childrens’ literature, local interests, new releases and independent magazines. The inventory also includes book-themed gifts, locally roasted drip coffee, kombucha, and other beverages and treats. A grand opening celebration will be announced at a later date.
“We’re so excited to provide readers of all ages opportunities to explore, learn, and connect with their neighbors,” said Megan Bormet, store owner and former elementary school educator. “Helping kids and adults find books they love is what I like to do best, and I’m thrilled that we can do this at People’s Book.”
People’s Book has ten book clubs and several author readings scheduled for this summer. On July 2, the store will host its first event, the Green Way Reading Series, a poetry dialogue series curated by Elizabeth Bryant and Takoma Park’s Poet Laureate Taylor Johnson. The store will be open Tuesday through Thursday from 9AM-6PM, Friday and Saturday from 9AM-8PM and Sunday from 9AM-5PM.
