Sticky Fingers Sweet & Eats Will Hold Grand Opening for new Flagship Bakery in Takoma DC
Saturday, February 24, 10 AM – 12 PM

Celebration will feature Ribbon and Cake Cutting, Live Entertainment, Free Cookies

Washington, DC: Sticky Fingers Sweets & Eats, the beloved woman-owned DC-based bakery from two-time Cupcake Wars champion, Doron Petersan, will host a Grand Opening Celebration, as well as a ribbon and cake cutting, at its new Flagship Bakery on Saturday, February 24th at 10 AM.

The first 100 customers to attend the Grand Opening Celebration will get a free chocolate chip cookie, and the bakery will give out samples and prizes throughout the day.  Local Drag Queen Tara Hoot will be kicking off the celebration with bubbles and stories.

Sticky Fingers’ latest retail outlet and flagship commercial kitchen “soft opened” late last month in the Takoma neighborhood of DC, at 314 Carroll Street NW, across from the Takoma Metro Station, and has been mobbed ever since. The vegan bakery took over the space formerly occupied by Soupergirl, and will carry Soupergirl soups in its grab-and-go section.

The new production facility for Sticky Fingers Sweets & Eats in Takoma, DC, and all items baked in the Takoma kitchen are certified kosher pareve by Star-K

Sticky Fingers Bakery is open to the public from 7 AM – 7 PM Tuesdays – Fridays, and 8 AM – 7 PM on Saturdays and Sundays.

In addition to a state-of-the-art production facility to meet the growing demand for its mail order and wholesale bakery items and mixes, the Takoma retail bakery offers its top sellers including chocolate chip and Cowvin Cookies, brownies, and seasonal and classic cupcakes, as well as custom cakes. The retail space also has a vegan grab-and-go section, and brews coffee from Alexandria-based Swing’s Coffee. In the spring it will add savory pastries to its bakery shelves.

“When I first moved to DC in 1995, I lived in and fell in love with Takoma Park. Ever since we opened our first shop in 2002, I’ve been looking for an opportunity to get back to the most welcoming community I’ve ever known. I am so excited to bring our sweets and eats to the Takoma and Takoma Park community, and have an opportunity to serve Shepherd Park, Silver Spring, Brightwood, and other neighborhoods in the area.  I feel like we’re coming home!,” according to founder Doron Petersan.

The bakery meets most dietary needs, including vegan, dairy free, and kosher pareve. It is a peanut- and shellfish-free facility, and has gluten-free options.

The bakery also sells, treats and baking mixes online at StickyFingersBakery.com, and offers catering and custom cakes locally.

The production facility will support Sticky Fingers’ growth as well as helping other like-minded companies grow via co-packing and white labeling. “The plan has long been to create a facility to support Sticky Fingers’ growth in the food service, direct to consumer, and consumer packaged goods arenas, but also enable other companies to launch and grow.  We are a mission-based business, promoting items that are free from animal products, but also making plant-based products more widely available and accessible.  This production facility, the culmination of five years of planning and building, allows us to grow in ways beyond our brand that are true to our mission,” Petersan said.
