Vintage Movie Night Featuring Anti-War Films

March 2, 2023 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Free

As we witness the ongoing horror of the war in Ukraine, independent filmmaker Richard Hall will share a variety of vintage anti-war films that draw parallels between that conflict and the Vietnam War. Don’t miss our next free Vintage Movie Night at the Takoma Park Community Center.

The screening will feature anti-Vietnam War films and ads created by peace activists, including the Women’s International League for Peace & Freedom. The Yippies (Youth International Party) will take center stage in a delightfully bizarre short film satirizing the protests at the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago. Richard Hall also will screen his own anti-war and mock educational short film titled “Daddy Why Do People Have Wars?”.

This film screening is part of the Takoma Park Arts series organized by the City of Takoma Park’s Arts and Humanities Division. Go to takomaparkmd.gov/arts for more info and to sign up for our e-newsletter.
