Shannon Earle for “The Penguin of Ilha Grande”

Shannon Earle loves sharing true stories about nature with children. Her first non-fiction picture book The Penguin of Ilha Grande: From Animal Rescue to Extraordinary Friendship was published by Charlesbridge Publishing in January 2023. Shannon is the director and lead teacher of Forest Explorers, a local forest school. She has worked in international conservation, as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Costa Rica and as a park ranger in Canyonlands National Park. She lives in Silver Spring with her husband, three daughters, a flock of hens, and occasional tadpoles and caterpillars.
