Nationwide and in Montgomery County, incidents involving police use of force have focused attention on racial injustices, as well as the structure and funding of police. In response to the nationwide and local furor over racial justice, County Executive Marc Elrich established The Reimagining Public Safety Task Force in mid-year 2020, which included broad representation of community stakeholders. Their final report was released in February.
