“Race and Me”.
The year is 2020. Not many of us envisioned that race would continue to be as divisive an issue in America. A black man was elected to the highest office in our country, twice. The civil rights movement effectively removed legal barriers to equal treatment and access. Interracial relationships are no longer rare, secretive and unlawful. And, there have been more. In view of these momentous accomplishments who would imagine that race relations would be what they are. A landmark year, 2020 could figuratively and literally symbolize clarity of vision; a period of enlightenment, acceptance and unity. But instead people of color and immigrants are confronted with escalating disenfranchisement, white privilege, racial profiling and inequality. As we celebrate the contributions of African Americans to our nation’s prosperity and global leadership we invite you to share your creative perspective and perception about race in America in 2020 through your lens.
