CANCELLED A White Historian Explores Black Voting Rights
May 18, 2020 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Local historian Susan Strasser surveys the history of how African-Americans have been granted the right to vote only to see it repeatedly withdrawn, as one aspect of a wider system of racist laws and customs. She takes a closer look at two moments of opportunity–Reconstruction and the early 1960s–and on the recent attacks on their right to vote.
This is the third in a series of four lectures. The final talk addresses Residential Segregation on June 22. More information can be found on Susan’s website.
