Members of Teen Exchange meet weekly to cultivate and create their own choreographic work, to expand their abilities as dancers and leaders, and to think about the impact dance can have beyond the studio and stage. Led by Lead Artist Corina Dalzell, teens collaborate closely with each other and Dance Exchange artists.

During each Teen Exchange class, young movers can expect:

A check-in question that helps us continue to get to know ourselves and each other

A physical warm up that gets us moving and can be adapted to all bodies and abilities

A creative warm-up or game to sharpen our improvisation and choice-making skills

A dancemaking activity to create solo, duet, or larger group choreography

An informal sharing of our choreography to practice skills for performing, being an audience member, and sharing feedback

Teens help shape the program with their interests which may mean incorporating visual art, music, poetry and other art forms into their dancemaking. At the end of the program, we’ll stitch together what we’ve created across the year into a larger performance shared in person or via video with family and friends.
